Burton has always been on the forefront of snowboarding's development throughout the years. So it comes to no surprise when we found out they were pushing the development in this extremely creative and envelope pushing way. Sabotoge Stupidity is about equality, tolernance and overall standing up for shred rights! Here's what it's about:
Jake Burton's Mission Statement:
There are four resorts in North America that still don’t allow snowboarding. In the face of this blatant disregard for the Constitution of the United States of America, poaching isn’t simply a peaceful form of protest; it’s truly your patriotic duty. It’s time we take a stand and let these elitists know that it’s not acceptable to discriminate. Power to the poachers!
To fuel the movement, we’re throwing down a $5,000 cash purse per resort video to the person or crew that submits the most creative documentation of their poach experience. Hit all four sports and you could claim $20,000. Deadline for entries is March 1, 2008. Videos should not exceed five minutes and must be in .flv format.

Be sure to check out the Ten Commandments of Poaching, additional rules and more details at: www.burton.com/poachers
It's that time of year again. Fathoms customer appreciation night is
happening Friday Nov 30th at 7:00 pm. This is a must attend! Everything in
the store is on sale, so if you are looking for a snowboard, outerwear or
clothing this is the night. New this year fill out a ballet to win tons of
great prizes.
Make sure to come check out the surf party tomorrow night at Skool after the event.
Were giving away mass amounts of shit and have an electric surf board…
Fathom is located at 470 First Street in Collingwood, ON!
Horseshoe is open. Horsehoe is open. Horsehoe is open. There is snow, mostly artificial, but snow nevertheless covering enough of the resort to allow for the first run of the chairlifts for the year.
Preseason riding is always the most fun. I love how every part of the slope becomes an obstacle, with people getting their chops back by jibbing and ollieying off of everything in sight. I remember season opening at Louis last year where those fence things that protect the snow guns turned into wallrides!
Horseshoe will have it’s share of fun on opening day (today). Most people know about the fun-providing burm which is the typical preseason attraction. A natural kicker, with a bit of modification becomes a whole day’s worth of fun. I’ve heard of preseason double-backflips attempted off this before.
But watch out for the inevitable fun-spoiling Ski Patrol. Once you find a great obstacle it is unlikely it will last long. The Fun-Chumping rider lurks everywhere just watching others’ creativity and calling it their own. Try not to let your fun spot be taken to the main stream by fun chumpers – stay low but try to remember it is inevitable that your ideas will get exposure. So get creative and stay ahead of the game. But, make sure you scope before you jump; I’ve learned this fact the hard way ruining boards on screw heavy shed roofs.
Stay safe and get creative! The season of fun is upon us!
Etnies and Thirty two have set up a contest whereby anyone could send in their homemade shred video showing off their skills in hopes of joining their snow team. For the past month or two… or three, I have had an evocative song stuck in my head. The song I’ve been singing was originally from 1939 by the female Brit leading lady, Vera Lynn. Since she recorded it, the song has been redone by a variety of prolifically hip musicians, such as Johnny Cash, and as shown Sandy Coast. My recent bewitchment by this song was for one particular reason: the unexpected fall of iRideTV.com.
Some of you might be wondering to yourselves, “yeah, what happened to iRideTV.com?” Some of you, might not of noticed a thing. Either way let me explain. A couple months ago, we were completely and unforgivingly hacked by an unknown source – and not just once either! Nope, our security was such shit that we were being hacked quicker than we could repair the damage. Since, the business of repairing and recoding is not necessarily a monetarily sound endeavor or a quick job, we decided to take ‘er down. Since then, we’ve found some coin and rebuilt our site for you. So here it is, just as you left it – literally, so bare with us while we update.
Oh, and funny enough with this reopening that song I was talking about has completely vanished from the broken jukebox inside my head.
This past weekend The Jack of All Tricks at the Oakville Waterfront Festival had both the young and old sessioning the 'Hide-N-Go-Skate' mini ramp all weekend. You could see the progression throughout the weekend and when it came time to throw down in the contest we saw some of the best yet.
The groms tore it up with Andrechts, Kickflip rocks, and some slappy happies! In the end it was Cohen Bury 3rd, Andre Young 2nd, and Bailey Wolfs took it down with his man sized tricks!!
In the Muskoka Woods Young Guns it was; Chris Johnston 3rd, Ben Paterson 2nd, and Jon Cosentino 1st who threw in a couple of frontside and backside flips!
In the Open Cash contest it was tight - I think we even turned it into a super final as the judges were finding it difficult to determine who's in the money! Josh Goulart, smothest tranny skater around took 3rd, Mike Berdis from Penn took 2nd, and Scott Underhill went home with $250 for 1st!
In the Royfoss Best Trick we extended time as Brandon White, Mike Morris and Scott Underhill were dropping rid-ic-er-ous tricks, double/triple flips, kick blunt finger flips, bs-ts big spins and kick indies! In the end it was Mike Mo's bag of tricks which earned him the Royfoss Best Trick and $100 bones!
See you next SUNDAY JUNE 1st for another 'Hide-N-G0-Skate' mini ramp competition.
